چکیده
The present study was conducted to assay C-reactive protein (CRP) levels, a marker of systemic inflammation, in newly diagnosed hypertensive patients and to evaluate the significance of serum CRP levels in predicting the severity of hypertension. One hundred newly diagnosed hypertensive patients between 20 to 65 years of age were taken for study. Serum CRP levels were measured using latex agglutination method and patients were categorised into 3 groups according to the CRP levels. Group I (0 < 0.6 mg/dl), group II (0.6 < 1.2 mg/dl), group III (> 1.2 mg/dl). It was observed that higher levels of CRP correlated significantly with the higher stage of hypertension (p< 0.0001). Increasing levels of CRP values also showed statistically significant correlation with pulse pressure ( p< 0.014) and mean arterial pressure (p < 0.0001). The raised levels of CRP in patients showed more prevalence of higher grade of hypertension. Increasing CRP levels also showed more prevalence of increased pulse pressure and mean arterial pressure. It is concluded that higher CRP levels are significantly correlated with higher stage of hypertension, suggesting the possibility of inflammatory pathogenesis in hypertension. Hence, CRP estimation should be recommended in evaluation and prognostication of all hypertensive patients.

Relationship between High-Density Lipoprotein and C-reactive Protein in Patients with Atherosclerosis
Abstract Background and Objective: Atherosclerosis is an inflammatory disease mostly caused by oxidation of low density lipoproteins (LDLs) while High-density lipoproteins (HDLs) oppose atherosclerosis by inhibiting the oxidation of LDLs. Serum concentration of C- reactive protein (CRP) also increases as an acute phase protein in inflammatory conditions like atherosclerosis. We aimed to evalu...
متن کاملMeasurement of C- Reactive Protein (CRP ) Using Magnetic Nanobeads Add ELISA
Abstract Background and Objective: Magnetic nanobeads have a large surface- area-to-volume ratio, which is used for immobilized antibody. Using nanoparticles could increase the amount of antibodies in surface in comparison to ELISA. We investigated the ability of magnetic nanobeads to evaluate CRP by colorimetric method and compared the results with ELISA. Material and Methods: This stud...
متن کاملEvaluation of Serum CRP and Vitamin D in Rheumatoid Arteritis Patients and Healthy People
Abstract Background and Objective: C- reactive protein (CRP), as an acute phase reactant and a reliable marker of inflammation, increases due to inflammatory diseases such as Rheumatoid Arteritis and infectious conditions. New evidence shows that Vitamin D may have important effects on adjusting and reducing the Immune Responses. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between...

Introduction:Preeclampsia is a serious, inflammatory-mediated hypertensive disorder of pregnancy affecting approximately 8% of all pregnancies. Based on recent studies, women with vitamin D deficiency may have an increased risk of developing preeclampsia. The aim of the study was to evaluate the vitamin D and CRP levels and explore the role and correlation between each other and also occurrence...
متن کاملComparison of Two Methods: Qualitative and Quantitative Study of C - Reactive Protein
Abstract Background and Objective: C - reactive protein (CRP) is an acute phase protein produced in liver. It is less than 5 mg per deciliter in the serum and body fluids of normal individuals, but it is increased suddenly within a few hours following inflammatory reaction. In bacterial and viral infections, active rheumatic fever, acute myocardial infarction and rheumatoid arthritis are a...
